Lifelogging
Oct/090
I am stealing from Culturebot here, but they might as well have written this for this blog:
”
Last weeknews broke that a commercial version of a camera worn around the neck to capture photos of your every moment is to be launched. It was originally invented to help people with memory problems.
It has been said before that an era of lifelogging, in which people will record and broadcast their daily lives, is on the way. But this time it might happen – people are already capturing many things about their lives and sharing them via social networking sites. The launch of the new camera and new research from Microsoft suggest people are ready to take the final steps.
read the rest at New Scientist. What does this mean for art? Makes me think of Andrew Schneider’s EDP and the movie The Final Cut. “
Three weeks

…until we’re in New Orleans. Less than that, actually.
And while I’m sad that The New Orleans Bingo! Show doesn’t appear to have a performance while I’m in town, I hope I can count on Rebirth and Soul Rebels to keep me entertained after the Fringe shows have stopped for the evening. Heck, we’re staying two blocks from Frenchmen Street, I’m not worried about entertainment.
Now that I don’t live there anymore, I am thinking of doing some really really touristy things while in town. Swamp tour, anyone? Let’s ride the streetcar to the end of the line and then pay $1.25 again to take it back to Canal Street. With hand grenades. And then purchase some beads and pretend it’s mardi gras.
Nostalgia
Oct/090
Now that we have all new videos up on the site, you might be nostalgic for times gone by. So pull up a chair, throw on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack at full blast, and grab a box of tissues, because you’re in for a walk down SEASTM memory lane.
And then there were none.

Just like that, our run at FringeNYC has finished. I’m not ready for it to be done! (Thankfully we’ll be performing in the New Orleans Fringe in November.) I feel like I was just starting to understand what we created — when performances began, when we had an audience, I was truly able to explore the “why” of the show. And I’ve just scratched the surface…
My head will be mulling over the themes of this show for a while. I’ll post, and maybe you’ll read?
Signing off (salute gesture),
Julia
P.S. Fringe NYC runs through the weekend! Make sure you check out some more shows!
Crazy Web of Fringe Shows
Aug/091
We opened yesterday at noon, and had a great crowd! Parents were there, siblings were there, significant others were there, friends were there, regular customers of my coffee shop were there — a great crew of people composed our premiere audience!
One wonderful surprise: the director, the playwright, and the technical director of the next show I’m working on (Double and Small at the Philly Fringe) all drove up from Philadelphia to see SEASTM! I was so touched that they came to see show — and they loved it!
Another one of the actors in Double and Small, Nick Martorelli, is directing a show in FringeNYC called Cock-A-Doodle-Doo! which runs the last weekend of the festival at CSV in the Lower East Side. It’s a musical about a man infatuated with a rooster (ahem…) based on a Herman Melville short story.
We should have a great audience this Tuesday — you should be a part of it! Get your tickets now, and remember, the show starts at 7:45, sharp!
See you there,
Julia
36 hours and counting
Aug/090
Well, the time is now. Our show opens in, like, 5 seconds. Excited? You bet I am! And not really nervous or scared at all, so I can’t even say that my feelings are best expressed by Jessie Spanno (which was my plan).
I suppose I do have a sort of nervous energy about me– its hard to describe (which reminds me of James Blunt, who also has problems talking about his emotions, but he can sing about them).
And remember, in like a month from now, when you’re thinking back on the show, and how great it was, and how much you miss me, I only have this to say: If you liked it, then you should have… (well, you know)
Yours always,
-Evan
FringeNYC is GO!
Aug/091
Last night at the FringeNYC Kick-Off Party I collected a bunch of cards for other shows (in my pants) and today at the Fringe Opening Ceremonies in Washington Square Park I collected more (in my hands). And EVERYBODY got a SEASTM postcard!
In no particular order, here are the shows I learned a bit about over the last 24 hours:
-The Jungle Fun Room
-Abraham Lincoln’s Big Gay Dance Party (This charming cast totally won me over when they performed at Washington Square Park today.)
-Willy Nilly
-Woyzeck
-The Adventures of Alvin Sputnick: Deep Sea Explorer (After seeing Tim Watts perform in the park today, I will definitely be attending this show)
-Tales From the Tunnel
-Finger Paint
-Hatching
-Exiles From the Sun
-Zack Adams: Awkward (From Perth Australia, just like Tim Watts and Mark Storen. With a title like Awkward, how can I not go?)
-Home Is the Sailor, Home From Sea. (Last night, I danced with a plaster animal from this show. Very intrigued.)
-Scandalous People: A Sizzling Jazzical (This show has tap-dancing. Who doesn’t like tap dancing?)
-Muffin Man (Tag Line: a barista in love. I’m curious if this is the musical of my daily life.)
-Bubs
-A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Bare bones Shakespeare, with a cast of 8. If they are anything like Lucidity Suitcase, I will love them.)
-Mark Storen’s A Drunken Cabaret (Another performer from Perth, Australia. Sex and Violence and Cabaret. Yup.)
-Sex and the Holy Land
-Damon and Debra
-Eli and Cheryl Jump
-Motherline
-The Antarctic Chronicles
-Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
-La Ronde
Go on and explore the Fringe! If you see any of these shows, or are involved with any other them, please post a comment about your experiences…

Go time
Aug/090
Well. It’s Friday. We open in two days.
We are ready. Excited. And having a crazy good time.
This is the first time in my young professional life, where I am not ridiculously nervous, to the point of walking into a salon and saying just cut off all my hair. Actually, I just have that little kid excitement like when summer is about to start. Except, we spent our whole summer working on this. So I not sure what that analogy implies.
Regardless, to our web fan base, here is Cecile Monteyne saying that she couldn’t be more excited and/or more proud to be working with the entire team of Some Editing and Some Theme Music. So don’t miss out on this amazing show. Seriously.
To the team itself, this is only the beginning of many wonderful things.
Merde y’all!!
5am
Aug/091
It is, indeed, 5am as I write this post. I am putting the finishing touches on some video for the show. It’s a time crunch, because we tech tomorrow afternoon, and I am driving to New Jersey this morning to pick up a large piece of flameproofed cloth.
Directing is not for the feint of heart. Faint of heart? Feint? Hm. At 5am, I’m not really sure.
Love,
Jean Ann
Less than one week!
Aug/090
It’s here, folks. Crunch time.
Our tech is less than 48 hours from now, and our first performance less than one week away.
The technical elements are being layered onto the work that the cast has been doing for months, and I must say, it looks smashing.
We’re pulling off some theatricals feats, and we’re doing it with both flair and panache, if I do say so myself.
See you at the show,
Jean Ann
